This week's line of the week belongs to the Washington Post's Pulitzer prize winning columnist, Eugene Robinson. In the face of this administration's plan to cut salaries & bonuses for the banks while Wall St goes hog wild, Robinson's description of these events as something akin to arresting jaywalkers instead of bank robbers seems apt. He summarized the current state of affairs the following way:
"...Capping salaries and bonuses is fine... But we need to pay attention to the guys in ski masks with bulging bags of money slung over their shoulders... They're about to jump into the getaway car..."
Personally, as a businesswoman, I am all for private business reaping the rewards of honest effort in a good business year just as long as those same businesses don't look to our tax dollars to bail them out when things go badly; especially when they have been careless & unwise when it comes to spending other people's money.
